Dear Friends,

Happy New Year to you! I pray that God is showing Himself to you and yours and that this note finds you well and blessed and seeing God’s mercy.

It is a brand new year that is sure to bring many changes. As we walk together, my prayer is that God will draw us even closer to Him and each other. Each of our clergy and churches are in different places, with unique challenges and successes. Please pray for and encourage one another.

One of our dear friends that could use your prayers and support is Don Strongman (dstrongman200@yahoo.com). This Sunday was his last Sunday in the pulpit at Trinity, Stockton. Don is being called to begin some new ministry endeavors to help the local church and schools connect to better serve students! I will let him share his heart for ministry with you but I think God could do some great things there! It is a challenging time of transition for Trinity, so please cover them in your prayers. They had a nice last service with him and a time of fellowship afterwards to say goodbye and thank you.

One of the most exciting aspects of change in our presbytery is the Acts 16:5 initiative and the opportunity grants. We have our next all presbytery training with E. Stanley Ott on February 23 at Trinity, Modesto from 9-3. Please RSVP with Clover Bailey (ctbisinmerced@gmail.com) if you are planning on attending so we can be sure to have enough food. Please bring the binders you received at the orientation and notify us if you are bringing new people who need binders. They are costly, so we thank you for helping us be good stewards. Our Healthy Congregations committee has granted several Great Adventure opportunity grants that will foster creative ministry. It is really exciting! Come to the presbytery meeting on February 2 at Harvest Presbyterian Church to celebrate what God will do through your brothers and sisters!

In an effort to remain connected, we are excited about our first annual clergy retreat in June. It will be a chance to take a night and a day with colleagues to refresh, recharge and refocus. Please watch the website and your email for information It will be a great investment in you, your ministry and each other.

I don’t know all that the year ahead will bring but I am grateful to be able to walk with you. The more that I get to know and appreciate all of you, the better I understand the richness of God’s grace in calling me here to serve you dear friends. I am excited to see what God will do in and through each of you in the year ahead. God is faithful. Please know that my door is always open and I would love to be of service in any way that would be helpful.

In His Grip,

Julia
