Presbyterian Women’s Spring Gathering, Saturday, April 22, 2017

All women are invited to participate in the Presbyterian Women’s Spring Gathering on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Geneva Presbyterian (1229 Fairmont Ave in Modesto). Parrish Associate Reverend Carrie Lane, M.Div., C.T. will speak. Pastor Carrie is a proud graduate of UC Davis (Go Ags!) and San Francisco Theological Seminary. She began her ordained ministry in the Bay Area in 1994. In addition to being our Parish Associate, she is currently a specialized minister in Stockton Presbytery working at Hospice of San Joaquin as the Manager of Bereavement Services. She enjoys providing pulpit supply for us (and other churches in the area). Someday, she hopes to be brave enough to copy World Renowned Minister Joyce Meyer and say “I’m preaching better than you are acting” in one of her sermons. She lives in Galt and is the mother of 2 busy teenagers and one sloppy dog. Please contact Sharon Miller for more information. See the flyer...

Four Presbyterian seminaries among top rated theological institutions Theological Education September 20, 2016 PC(USA) institutions join 31 schools named ‘Seminaries that Change the World’ by Gregg Brekke | Presbyterian News Service Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. (Photo provided) yep, our own CT Bailey went there! LOUISVILLE – The Center for Faith and Service, based at McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois, has announced the fourth annual list of Seminaries that Change the World (STCTW). Among the winners are four seminaries of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.): Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Columbia Theological Seminary, McCormick Theological Seminary and Union Presbyterian Seminary. In a day and age when America’s oldest seminary, Andover Newton, is closing it’s doors and 2 the largest Lutheran seminaries are merging, the Presbyterian Church USA continues to invest in excellent academic training for tomorrow’s missionaries and ministers! “We are pleased that the many efforts of our students, staff and faculty, and indeed the work of the institution itself, have been recognized as we respond to God’s call to engage in and participate with the transforming work of God’s Reign in our world,” said Union Presbyterian Seminary president Brian K. Blount. “Our commitment to serving God in this way neither begins nor ends with this wonderful recognition, but we are delighted to be counted among such wonderful company.” STCTW highlights a select group of seminaries and divinity schools offering innovative courses, programs, and opportunities for students seeking to engage in social justice and service work while in seminary. This year’s list includes 31 institutions, representing a broad range of theological and political perspectives. As part...
